Advocating for Environmental Preservation
The Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) has marked the beginning of its Sustainability Week, a week-long event dedicated to the central importance of sustainability for the university and society at large.
Professor Walter Schober, President of THI, underscored the significance of the topic, stating that focusing on sustainability is crucial for protecting the environment and conserving resources. He further emphasised THI's role in training the experts of tomorrow across various study programmes.
The event, which took place in the Aula, offered a plethora of activities, including lectures, workshops, and an interactive exhibition. Professor Elke Feifel, Vice-President for Sustainability, Transfer, and Entrepreneurship, highlighted the importance of the week, stressing that it provides an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about current research projects, student initiatives, and employee initiatives at THI.
Lara Lütke Spatz from the Center for University and Sustainability Bavaria gave a lecture on the current status of sustainability at Bavarian universities, while Professor Susanne Rinner delivered a lecture on the innovative didactic concept "Engaging for Sustainability". Professor Stefanie Wrobel also delivered an impulse lecture on the role of future research and innovation capability for sustainable development.
Katharina Bär from the Institute for New Energy Systems (InES) discussed the challenges of the energy transition and THI's role in combating the climate crisis. Students presented their practical projects in the field of sustainability and environmental management, showcasing their innovative ideas and solutions.
The Sustainability Week at THI not only provided insights into ongoing research and initiatives but also encouraged further discussions and initiatives on sustainability. The week aims to foster a culture of sustainability within the university and inspire students, researchers, and staff to take action for a sustainable future.
