Appreciative Relationship Spanning a Whole Year, Bestowed as a Token of Gratitude to the Community
In a heartwarming gesture of gratitude, the Evangelical Churches of Gräfrath and Ketzberg have published a local photo calendar, featuring images that resonate with the community. The calendar, which was distributed to approximately 3,600 members in December, includes photos of the Lützowstraße light tower, a crocus meadow, the Easter window in Gräfrath, the church in Ketzberg, the Klingentrail, the Gräfrath market, and many other familiar places in the two districts.
The calendars, small and charming, were a gift from the churches without any expectations from the recipients. The KD-Bank Foundation and the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland helped cover the printing costs for the calendar. The feedback for the calendar has been very positive, with members appreciating the thoughtful gesture and the beautiful images.
The cover of the calendar features a photo taken by Annekatrin Helbing-Regiert, capturing a serene view of the Park Cemetery, looking towards Fuhr. The calendar's focus is on photos taken by local hobby photographers, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the two districts.
Pastors Christof Bleckmann and Thomas Schorsch hope that the calendars will be well received and serve as a reminder of the community's shared experiences and connections. The churches plan to merge into a new church in two years, starting in 2027. This calendar is a testament to the rich history and vibrant community of Gräfrath and Ketzberg.
The calendars are intended to find a place on the desks, shelves, or walls of people in the two districts. Extra copies of the calendar were given to local businesses, further spreading the warm sentiment. The accompanying community newsletter includes information on community offers, dates, and contacts, providing a comprehensive guide for the coming year.
This photo calendar is more than just a practical tool for keeping track of dates; it's a way for the churches to express their gratitude to their members and foster a sense of belonging. Each month features a different aspect of church life, from festivals and outreach programs to music ministry and youth activities. Member spotlights, inspirational verses, and seasonal observances add depth and meaning to the images.
The churches encourage congregation members to submit photos or organize a photo event to capture authentic moments for next year's calendar. The layout and design are clean and warm, reflecting the church’s personality. Consider printing a limited number of high-quality physical calendars as gifts or for fundraising, and create a digital version to share via email or social media.
Engage with your community by inviting members to share their thoughts or offer ideas for next year’s calendar. This photo calendar is an excellent way to strengthen community bonds, express gratitude, and increase engagement.
The calendars, intended for desks, shelves, or walls within the two districts, serve as a testament to the shared experiences and connections of the Gräfrath and Ketzberg communities, capturing the beauty and diversity of their home-and-garden settings, lifestyle, and various church-related activities.
