Arctic wolf cubs make their debut at the Oradea Zoological Garden in Romania

Two Arctic wolf cubs, born at Oradea Zoo in western Romania, have become the first Arctic wolves to be born in Romanian zoos. The cubs, who are 8 weeks old, are the offspring of parents Lucky (4 years old) and Happy (5 years old), who were brought to the zoo from France and the Czech Republic.

The Arctic wolf cubs, currently without names, are still a bit shy but are becoming more comfortable in their enclosure. They sleep a lot due to their youth, but are more active in the morning. The cubs have started to come out of their den and are starting to play and socialize.

According to the zoo's veterinarian, the cubs do not require special care as their mother provides all necessary care. However, they will be vaccinated to eliminate the risk of illness.

Adult Arctic wolves can reach around 80 kg, although the cubs' exact weight is not yet known. As they grow, they will be weaned off milk to regurgitated meat by their parents before becoming more independent within several months.

Arctic wolf pups are usually born in litters of 4 to 6, cared for collectively by the pack after weaning at 6 to 9 weeks. The gestation period for wolves is approximately 62-63 days, making the cubs' birth consistent with the general Arctic wolf reproductive traits.

Visitors to the zoo are invited to "adopt" the Arctic wolf cubs, contributing to their better care through various donations. Photos of the cubs are available from screenshots of ZOOO's Facebook video.

The Arctic wolves born at the Oradea Zoo live beyond the polar circle, in Greenland and North America. The zoo aims to provide a natural habitat for the cubs and educate visitors about the Arctic wolves and their conservation.

For precise vaccination details for the Oradea Zoo Arctic wolf cubs, direct inquiry to the zoo’s veterinary or animal care staff would be necessary, as such information is not publicly available.

The Arctic wolf cubs' enclosure at the Oradea Zoo, a combination of home-and-garden for these young Arctic wolves, is gradually becoming a place of comfort and activity as they develop and socialize. As their lifestyle adapts to their new environment, they are learning to play and interact with each other, with more activity seen in the morning.
