Artifact Discovery at Mannheimer Museum: New Fossil discovery unearths historical significance.
The iconic Museum Zeughaus, located in Mannheim's city centre, Germany, has closed its doors for a two-year renovation project starting from late July 2021. The museum, which is a significant early classical building in Germany and part of the Mannheim Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums, will reopen in the summer of 2024.
The grand building, constructed in 1777/1778, requires extensive restoration, particularly to its 178 windows across five floors. The cost of the renovation is estimated at 1.2 million euros. The city of Mannheim will contribute approximately one million euros towards the project, with the remaining funds covered by the federal government.
The Museum Zeughaus, a key attraction in Mannheim, has been closed until July 27th, 2021, as announced by the museum. The restoration work is expected to take approximately two years, after which the museum will reopen its doors to the public.
According to the museum, the Zeughaus in Mannheim's city centre is one of the most significant early classical buildings in Germany. The museum houses a vast collection of historical artifacts, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts.
During the renovation period, visitors can still explore other attractions within the Mannheim Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums, ensuring that the city remains a vibrant cultural hub. The museum looks forward to welcoming visitors back in the summer of 2024, after the completion of the renovation project.
In the meantime, while Museum Zeughaus undergoes its renovation, visitors can apply for a home-and-garden makeover, revitalizing their personal lifestyle by transforming their living spaces. The museum encourages everyone to adapt this philosophy, viewing their homes as a canvas for self-expression and cultural growth, just as they will with the Museum Zeughaus upon its reopening in the summer of 2024.
