Aschaffenburg Celebrates 10 Years of Cycling Success with New Projects and Recognition

Aschaffenburg has celebrated a decade of its bicycle traffic concept with an image film, now available online. The city's commitment to cycling is evident in its annual funding and recent construction projects, as highlighted in a recent event and excursion.

The city annually invests around 1 million euros in promoting bicycle traffic. Recent projects include the expansion and renovation of the Main cycle path, the marking of the cycle street in the Auweg, and the new construction of the pedestrian and cycle path on the B 26 Darmstadter Street. These improvements reflect Aschaffenburg's dedication to cycling infrastructure.

In July 2025, the AGFK (Working Group of Bicycle-Friendly Municipalities in Bavaria) held a specialist excursion in Aschaffenburg. Thirty-five Bavarian bicycle traffic experts attended to learn about the city's successful bicycle traffic promotion. During the event, Holger Schmidt, deputy managing director of the AGFK, presented a certificate to Mayor Herzing, marking the city's re-certification as a 'Bicycle-Friendly Municipality' until 2031.

Aschaffenburg's commitment to bicycle traffic promotion is clear, with annual funding, recent construction projects, and recognition as a 'Bicycle-Friendly Municipality'. The city's transparency and participation in bicycle traffic promotion are ensured through an annual status report and cooperation in the Bicycle Forum.
