Assistance for Fathers Caring for Children with Special Requirements

A multitude of individuals engaged in new endeavors during lockdown four years ago, and my personal initiative was the formation of 'The Dads' Fire Circle', a community for fathers (or father figures) of children with special needs, aged from infancy to adulthood, to congregate.

In a community that spans across Europe and beyond, The Dads' Fire Circle stands as a beacon of support for fathers and father figures of children with additional needs. Founded four years ago, this group has grown to include members from all over the UK and beyond, united by a shared mission.

The Dads' Fire Circle sessions are led by the topics discussed by the Dads present, creating an environment that fosters understanding, listening, and mutual support. The group meets online every month, with participants ranging from Dads of small children to those with adult children.

Tim, a member of The Dads' Fire Circle, finds the group's support system particularly helpful. Current issues relevant to the moment, such as summer holidays, back to school, or Christmas, are often discussed. The group has also attended festival events such as New Wine 'United'.

The Dads' Fire Circle was featured on the Father's Day episode of BBC Songs of Praise on 16th June 2024. Unfortunately, the person who represented the group during the broadcast could not be identified in the available search results.

For those interested in learning more about The Dads' Fire Circle, information about upcoming sessions, blog posts, and helpful websites can be found on the group's website. Mark Arnold, the Director of Additional Needs Ministry at Urban Saints, is also a member of the group and runs the blog, 'The Additional Needs Blogfather'.

In a related note, Evangelical Focus, the publication where this article is originally from, is facing a sustainability challenge ahead. However, their commitment to spreading awareness about initiatives like The Dads' Fire Circle remains unwavering.

Lastly, for those who wish to join this supportive community, 'I hope you will come and join us' is an invitation from The Dads' Fire Circle to participate in their sessions.
