Kick off the countdown for the 2025 Palio anniversary with a bang—Asti Mayor Rasero officially announced, on May 3rd, that the grand race will unfold on Sunday, September 7th. Artistic flair adorns the proceedings, as renowned Asti painter, Marisa Garramone, unveils dazzling banners for the Collegiata di San Secondo. Pope Francis graces one of these masterpieces, marking a special homage in the Year of the Jubilee.

The city embraces its medieval essence and inaugurates the Palio Year 2025, honoring its historical milestone. But the festivities don’t stop there—take a look at what Asti has on the agenda.

Sky aflame (literally)!: Postponed to May 12th, the San Secondo fireworks, initially scheduled for May 3rd, now illuminate the skies as they dance to their rousing rhythm, all thanks to the whims of Mother Nature. May 6th welcomes the Palio Offering at the Collegiata, where joyous flag-wavers gather, accompanied by a procession to the Patron Saint's church. The day concludes with the "Minestra dei poveri", a gesture of solidarity dating back to the 13th century.

At 4 pm in Piazza San Secondo, "Pony... in Palio" beckons children, offering an edge-of-your-seat experience courtesy of the College of Rectors. Stirring music serenades the day, too: on May 6th, the renowned Banda Cotti Città di Asti enchants the gardens with their performance.

The Carolingian FairThe month wouldn't be complete without this classic event—it's one of the oldest fairs still in operation, with origins reaching back to the Middle Ages. On June 7th, expect over 600 merchants to fill the city center, showcasing everything from fashion and textiles to handmade crafts, and tantalizing treats for even the most discerning taste buds.

Mark your calendars for May 10th as the Paliotto thunders into action with 17 groups from the Palio Committees. Enthusiastic groups of musicians and flag-wavers compete for the coveted Paliotto, bringing the spirit of Asti's heritage alive.

Enhancing the FestivityIn addition to the flagship events, Asti presents itself as a veritable cultural haven throughout the year, with a slew of cultural events, historical reenactments, and performances added to the celebratory mix. But wait, there's more! The Ministry of Businesses and Made in Italy will unveil a Palio stamp on May 21st, as part of a thematic series dedicated to Italian cultural excellence.
