Autumn Pilgrimage Celebration Week in Bischofsheim: scheduled for October 6th to 11th, 25th
In October 2025, nature enthusiasts will have the opportunity to participate in the 40th Anniversary of the Wandering and Nature Experience Week in the Rhön region. Organised by the Rhön Club Bischofsheim-Kreuzberg e.V. and the Tourist Information Bischofsheim, this week-long event promises a memorable experience for all participants.
The festivities kick off on October 6th at the historic Rentamt in Bischofsheim i.d.Rhön, with an opening ceremony and welcome reception at 9 AM. The first hike of the anniversary week will be from Gersfeld through the Gichenbachtal.
Each day of the event, participants will embark on different hiking routes. On Tuesday, the hike will be from Züntersbach to Burg-Schwarzenfels. Wednesday brings a visit to the Fruit Tapestry in Sargenzell and the Weinberg Wanderung from Hünfeld. Thursday's tour is the "Klosterteich Runde" from Dürrnhof to Maria Bildhausen, with a midday break at the Klostergasthof. Friday features an extra tour, "Die Kreuzbergtour", with a stop at the Kloster Kreuzberg. The week concludes on Saturday with the extra tour, "Der Strahlunger", which leads to the old vineyard and ends with a surprise.
Food is not included in the price and can be purchased in cash at the meeting point by the hiking guide. Participants are advised to pack a lunch on some days, as not all routes may have eating options.
The daily price per hiker is 5 Euro. Children under 8 years old enter for free; children aged 9 to 14 receive a reduced price equal to half the daily price. For holders of the Bischofsheim guest pass and Rhön Club members, the price is reduced by 1 Euro per day.
Registration for the event is through the Tourist Information of Bischofsheim i.d.Rhön by phone or email. Wear appropriate hiking shoes and clothing for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
The week-long event culminates on Saturday, with the conclusion of the hikes and a celebration for the 40th anniversary. This includes a group meal, coffee, and cake at the Rentamt, along with a discussion about past hiking weeks. The week-long event concludes on Saturday with the extra tour, "Der Strahlunger". Each participant will receive a hiking certificate documenting their days of participation as a highlight.
