Baden-Württemberg's Heimatmedaille to be granted in 2025 to the Commission
In the city of Weinheim, ten distinguished individuals were bestowed with the Baden-Württemberg Homeland Medal. The recipients, including Sabine Essinger, Dr. Konrad Exner, Peter Gérard, Fouzia Hammoud, Alfons Köhler, Alois Krafczyk, Gabriele Kropf, Irmhild Mannsfeld, Irene Schmid, and Gerhard Stolz, were recognised for their exceptional contributions to various sectors such as landeskultur, historical research, traditions, dialect, art history, and social and integrative projects.
These projects have played a significant role in making the homeland more accessible and strengthening social ties within the region. Arne Braun, State Secretary, emphasised the importance of this work, stating that having a homeland is a great fortune and inclusion is about 'us' and not 'them and us'.
The Baden-Württemberg Homeland Medal is a prestigious award, and a PDF document of the medal is available for download. The Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, which oversees the award, has a Press Office and a Citizen's Representative for contact purposes. Their contact details, along with a contact form, are easily accessible online for any inquiries or feedback.
The YouTube channel of the Ministry provides a platform to showcase the achievements and contributions of previous Homeland Medal recipients. The channel features portraits of these honourees, offering a glimpse into their work and its impact on the communities they serve.
The selection process for the Homeland Medal involves collaboration between various government entities and numerous homeland and tradition care organisations. The working groups for homeland care, which collaborate with around 200 member associations and clubs in homeland and tradition care, play a crucial role in this process.
The State Festival Days, hosted by the city of Weinheim this year, marked the occasion where the Homeland Medals were awarded. The Homeland Days, a significant event in the Baden-Württemberg calendar, traditionally mark the start of the Homeland Days within the region.
Arne Braun, in his speech, highlighted the recipients' role in creating places of encounter, strengthening village and city communities, and fostering acceptance and democratic participation. The honourees have been instrumental in keeping communities and Baden-Württemberg's traditions alive, ensuring that the region's rich heritage continues to thrive.
In conclusion, the Baden-Württemberg Homeland Medal is a testament to the outstanding work of individuals who have dedicated their time and efforts to preserving and reshaping their homeland, filling society with life. Their contributions serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining and celebrating our cultural heritage.
