NCC Bank Launches Nationwide Tree Plantation Campaign for a Greener Bangladesh
NCC Bank has kicked off its month-long tree plantation campaign named "NCC Nisorgo" to celebrate its 32nd anniversary and reaffirm its commitment to environmental sustainability. The campaign, launched in August 2025, aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, with a special focus on engaging the youth of Bangladesh [1][3][5].
The campaign will see the planting of saplings in 40 educational institutions across the country and the distribution of over 5,000 fruit and forest saplings to students. The initiative was inaugurated at Kallyanpur Girls School and College, where 32 different species of fruit-bearing saplings were symbolically planted, representing the bank's 32 years in operation [1].
M Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director of NCC Bank, emphasized the bank's dedication to green, sustainable financing, stating that environmental stewardship remains central to its social responsibilities. He urged students and citizens to plant trees in their yards, on rooftops, along roadsides, or on unused land to help meet oxygen needs and reduce carbon emissions [2].
Arefin also pointed out that Bangladesh falls short of the ideal 25% forest coverage and expressed hope that NCC Nisorgo would help build a greener Bangladesh for future generations. He confirmed the bank's commitment to similar efforts in the future [3].
Representatives from the school authority and officials from NCC Bank's Shyamoli Branch were present at the inaugural event of NCC Nisorgo. In a symbolic gesture, Arefin ceremonially planted trees and distributed saplings to around 100 scout members [4].
