News Article: Marburg-Biedenkopf District Introduces Ehrenamtscard for Volunteers
Residents of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district have a new opportunity to be recognised for their volunteer work. The Ehrenamtscard, a card that acknowledges individuals who have volunteered for at least three years, dedicating at least five hours per week, is now open for applications.
The application process for the Ehrenamtscard is straightforward. Citizens from the district can apply through the Fachdienst Partizipation, Ehrenamt und Sport. For those living in the city of Marburg, applications can be submitted directly to the city. Interested parties can obtain information about the application process by calling 06421 405-1789 or emailing [email protected]. The application period runs from October 1, 2022, to October 15, 2025.
Once approved, the Ehrenamtscard is valid for three years and can be renewed afterwards. Recipients will enjoy various benefits, including discounts on products at OBI stores in Biedenkopf, Gladenbach, and Marburg, reduced admission to leisure pools and football home games in many cities and communities, and fee reductions for courses, seminars, and workshops at adult education centers in the district and the city of Marburg.
The Ehrenamtscard holders can also look forward to discounts for various events and facilities in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. A visit to the Botanical Garden or the Cineplex Cinema, for instance, is possible at a reduced price with the Ehrenamtscard.
The next Ehrenamtscard presentation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025. Recipients of the Ehrenamtscard will be personally informed about the details of the planned event.
It's worth noting that holders of the Jugendleitercard are exempt from the three-year requirement. For more information about the application process for Marburg residents, call 06421 201-2004 or email [email protected].
The Ehrenamtscard has already been awarded to around 20,000 people in Hesse, making it a popular way to acknowledge and reward the efforts of volunteers. If you're a resident of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district and have been dedicating your time to social, cultural, sports, or community work, consider applying for the Ehrenamtscard today.
