The latest auction put on quite a show with some jaw-dropping figures. British classics reigned supreme, starting with a 1968 Sunbeam Alpine that boasted an intriguing backstory, dad-gone selling for £6858 - well above its £4000-£6000 estimate! A striking 1969 MGB roadster, fresh as a daisy with only 45,000 miles on its chassis, scored a £9504 sale, even sans reserve. If you're after smaller British charms, look no further than a 1967 Midget Mk2, which belted out £6804, besting its £5500-£6500 estimate. And let's not forget its Austin-Healey Sprite twin from the same year that sold over estimate for £4320.
Moving on, a swanky 1968 Daimler V8 250 joined the party at £7776. For those who want a piece of history, a freshly restored 1949 Austin A40 Devon sold for an estimate-crushing £5400. A drop-dead gorgeous 1971 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible also found a new owner at £5616, again without a reserve.
Three dashing blue Brits hopped off the block, too. A 1959 Morris Minor Traveller did the ' dash for £5940, right at the upper estimate. A 1995 Land Rover Discovery2 TDi, boasting just 37,000 miles, blew past its £5000-£7000 estimate to fetch a whopping £8856. Last but not least, a rare 2000 MGF 'Steptronic' auto disappeared without a reserve for £3456.
What's an auction without some '80s icons, you ask? Well, plenty of them graced the floor, including a rare 1982 BMW E21 320 Baur Convertible that claimed £5616. A 1990 E30 320i successor upped the ante, quadrupling its lower estimate to fetch £8856. And another pristine white ride, a 1990 325i Auto drop-top, brought in £7344. Two rare Alfa Romeos snuck in for good measure, with a 1984 Alfasud 1.5Ti selling for £8208, and a 1983 Sprint changing hands for £8316. An ex-Top Gear Citroën BX GTi 4×4 swapped hands for £3240, and a Peugeot 309 GTI requiring some TLC fetched £5724 - double the lower estimate.
Classic Ford enthusiasts rejoiced at a successful group of Fords, starting with a 1988 Mk2 Fiesta XR2 that sold for £8532. 1984 examples of both a Sierra XR4i and Mk3 Capri 2.0S trumped their estimates, selling for £11,340 and £12,744 apiece. An unaltered 1989 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth changed hands for £26,568.
Rounding out the highlights, a solid gold Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow parted ways with its previous owner for £7668, and a charming 1965 Peugeot 403 Pickup sold at the upper end of its estimate for £7128. However, the pièce de résistance was the immaculate, 18,000-mile 1988 Toyota HiAce van, which left everyone stunned when it sold without reserve for an astounding £17,820!
