The International Photography Awards (IPA) has announced the winners of its annual competition, which recognises some of the world's most talented photographers. The event, one of the most respected annual photography competitions globally, welcomed entries from professionals, non-professionals, and students across the globe.
Notable Winners in the Professional Category
- The Architecture Photographer of the Year was awarded to Romain Thiery for his captivating work "Requiem pour Pianos".
- Autori Multipli took home the Book Photographer of the Year title for "Fragili Equilibri".
- Abdelrahman Alkahlout was named Editorial/Press Photographer of the Year for his powerful image "Echoes of Genocide: Gaza's Civilian Suffering".
- Savadmon Avalachamveetil won the Event Photographer of the Year for his stunning photograph "MahaKumbh - World’s Largest Gathering".
- Julia Fullerton-Batten was honoured as the Fine Art Photographer of the Year for "Frida – A Singular Vision of Beauty & Pain".
- Benjo Arwas was recognised as the Advertising/Beauty Photographer of the Year for "Alternative Bride".
Notable Winners in the Non-Professional Category
- Ilene Meyers was named Nature Photographer of the Year for her breathtaking image "Iowa Storm Cell".
- Ilona Schong was awarded People Photographer of the Year for "Inside Romania".
- Monia Marchionni was honoured as the Special Photographer of the Year for "Emotive Snapshots".
- Kohei Kawashima was recognised as the Sports Photographer of the Year for "Piercing the Rainbow".
Grand Titles to be Announced
The International Photographer of the Year (Professional) and Discovery Photographer of the Year (Non-Professional) will be announced at the upcoming IPA Gala on October 5 at Athens' Benaki Museum. As of August 27, the top overall winners have yet to be disclosed.
Other Category Winners
In addition to the Photographer of the Year titles, the IPA awards also recognised winners in various categories. In the Professional category, Laura Pannack, Chantal Pinzi, Peter Franck, and Zed Nelson were among the winners in Portraiture, Sport, Still Life, Wildlife & Nature, and Perspectives Projects respectively.
Kim Bunermann, the former Technique Editor at Digital Photographer, aims to encourage readers to explore photography more deeply and embrace its full creative potential. With a Master's degree in Photography and Media, Bunermann focuses on the art and science of photography. Her work has been published internationally, and she continues to inspire readers to stay inspired by browsing the best photography awards and contests.
For those looking to participate in photography contests, ten global photo contests are now open from August to January. The competition welcomes entries from photographers of all levels and backgrounds, making it an excellent opportunity to showcase one's work on a global stage.
