Bremen accelerates once more
In the heart of Germany, the Hanseatic city of Bremen is gearing up for an exciting event that promotes climate protection, a sustainable city, and community spirit. The city is hosting the nationwide STADTRADELN event from August 18 to September 7, 2022, culminating in the BIKE IT! Festival on September 6 and 7 on the Überseeinsel.
The festival, organised by the ADFC Bremen and the Radkulturproject BIKE IT!, focuses on sustainable mobility, urban development, and bike culture. Anyone living, working, going to school, or studying in Bremen is welcome to participate. Whether you're a daily cyclist, an occasional rider, or a commuter, this event invites everyone to join.
The goal of the event is to cover as many kilometres as possible by bike in three weeks. Every kilometre counted in the event contributes to the total distance covered. Participants can form their own teams or join existing ones, with a special "Open Team - Bremen" available for solo riders. Kilometers ridden can be tracked via app or entered online.
The Bremen STADTRADELN had a successful run in 2024, with 280 teams collectively cycling over 662,000 kilometres, saving 109 tons of CO2. The main prizes will be raffled among the most active participants, not just the top kilometer cyclists. Attractive prizes, such as overnight stays, city tours, and entrance tickets, will be up for grabs, along with practical and cool BIKE IT! goodies.
Companies, associations, school classes, administrative teams, and political representatives are also invited to participate. Retroactive tracking of kilometres is possible up to seven days after the event ends. The GFNY race in Bremen offers additional kilometres to collect and compete on August 31.
