Garden Days in Fürstenfeldbruck Take Off with a Bang

Whats Up, Folks!

The grand opening of the Garden Days in Fürstenfeld was a smashing success, drawing scores of visitors to the event.

Fürstenfeldbruck - After weeks of rain showers causing delays in setting up the exhibitors' verdant retreats, Peter finally granted a reprieve on Friday: The sun shone bright.

Martin Lohde, organizer and orchestrator, attested to a promising start despite the weather. Long lines snaked at all four cash registers even before they opened. The Garden Days' enduring popularity remains unabated. "We might need to bundle up a bit on Saturday and Sunday, but today's weather is perfect. And it's expected to be good on Monday too."

According to Lohde, ten percent of the exhibitors are newcomers, indicating minimal change in participants. Lohde reported that he could have easily accommodated more exhibitors, but the total was capped at 260. The minimal participant shift is due to clashes in schedules or business closures, the organizer explained.

Regrettably, the number of show gardens at the Garden Days has taken a significant hit, says landscape architect Lohde. He empathizes with the exhibitors as they are already in their main season, causing the effort required to set up show gardens for four days to be excessive.

One hour post the opening, there was a lively hustle and bustle on the monastery grounds. A duo from Diedorf have been regular attendees of the Garden Days for years. The pair appreciates not only the picturesque ambiance but also the opportunity to acquire new plants. Being faithful followers of the event motto "Greenest it gets," they have added a meter-wide, six-meter-long rose-and-sage bed to their home. "We've obtained all our plants here."

A visitor pair from Haag set their alarm for 6 a.m. to make it to the opening on time. "We always find something for our small garden here, such as cherry tomato plants." This duo has been consistent fans of the Garden Days for ten years. They advocate for bee-friendly gardening. Although their garden might not be large, they have cultivated flower meadows. "Even the cemeteries' graves are increasingly being sealed. That's sad."

Opening Times: The Garden Days will continue through Whitsun Monday. It opens daily from 9.30 to 18.30.
