Car owners from Krasnodar share their creative car nicknames
In the first half of 2025, the auto loan market in Russia saw a significant shift, with the largest volumes of loans issued in key regions. Moscow led the pack with a staggering 52.5 billion rubles, followed closely by Moscow Oblast (46.5 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (31.3 billion rubles), Krasnodar Krai (29.0 billion rubles), and the Republic of Tatarstan (28.0 billion rubles).
Interestingly, a survey conducted by SuperJob revealed that Krasnodar residents have a penchant for giving their cars affectionate and playful nicknames. Although the specific list from the Krasnodar survey isn't available, general examples of popular car nicknames in Russia include names that reflect the car's characteristics or personal connections.
The auto loan market as a whole experienced a decline, with total loans amounting to 576.5 billion rubles in the first half of 2025, a 47.2% decrease compared to the same period last year (1,091.4 billion rubles in January-June 2024). This decrease suggests a potential slowdown in the auto market, a trend that will be worth monitoring in the coming months.
Despite the decline in the auto loan market, Krasnodar residents seem to maintains a unique passion for their vehicles, often assigning them affectionate and playful nicknames, reminiscent of a different lifestyle in the home-and-garden sphere. Interestingly, while home-and-garden enthusiasts in Russia might discuss vivid plant names or quaint house monikers in forums, car lovers indulge in a similar practice with their prized possessions, choosing names that reflect their cars' characteristics or personal connections, thereby merging the home-and-garden lifestyle with the home-and-garden of wheels, otherwise known as the 'cars' segment.
