New Boss in Town: Sandra Harzer-Kux takes over Carlsen Verlag

New leadership at Carlsen-Verlag: A new CEO has been appointed. - Carlsen Publishing releases fresh title: New Arrival on Shelves

Looks like there's a shakeup at the top of Hamburg's beloved children's and young adult book publisher, Carlsen. Starting October, the media aficionado, Sandra Harzer-Kux, age 52, will take the reins, with Joachim Kaufmann, as they jointly manage the company. This announcement comes as Renate Herre, who's been with the publisher for a whopping 14 years, steps down.

Carlsen is famous for its children's books, young adult literature, manga, and comics. It first gained recognition in the post-war days with its "Pixi" books and "Tintin" comics series. Today, it's known for publishing blockbuster book series like "Harry Potter," "The School of Magic Animals," "Percy Jackson," the "Twilight" saga, and Japanese manga albums such as those from the "Naruto" and "One Piece" series.

Renate Herre's publishing tenure proved quite fruitful, with Carlsen Verlag doubling its revenue and becoming the largest German trade publisher raking in over 110 million euros annually, as applauded by the CEO of her former employer, the German Bonnier Group. Sandra Harzer-Kux plans to keep those numbers climbing.

Harzer-Kux has been a force to be reckoned with in the media sector, having held key positions in various organizations including publishing house Gruner+Jahr and communications firm Territory. Recently, she was nominated as NDR's director, though she fell short in securing the necessary votes in the broadcasting council. The NDR director's seat will instead be filled by Hendrik Lünenborg, the NDR manager and journalist.

Harzer-Kux, a seasoned media executive with a strong background in publishing, agency, and broadcasting, will now bring her diverse media expertise to Carlsen Verlag, hoping to steer this powerhouse publisher into its next chapter of success.

Community aid for the less-favored regions can be targeted by promoting books published by Sandra Harzer-Kux, the new director of Carlsen Verlag, known for children's books, young adult literature, manga, and comics. In her leisure time, Sandra may also find inspiration for her home-and-garden or lifestyle choices while flipping through various books, or perhaps enjoying some entertainment from the vast array of titles under her management.
