Celebration of Kadayawan Festival in 2025 concludes incident-free and securely.
Kadayawan Festival 2025 Set to Celebrate Davao City's Rich Culture and Diversity
The vibrant city of Davao is gearing up for the annual Kadayawan Festival, a grand celebration of its rich culture and diversity. This year's festival, scheduled from August 7 to 17, promises to be an exciting event, with a packed schedule of cultural presentations, trade fairs, food festivals, and parades [1][2][3][5].
The festival's opening ceremony, known as the Pag-Abli sa Kadayawan, will take place at the Kadayawan Tribal Village in Magsaysay Park on August 8. The event will also mark the beginning of the Kadayawan Trade Fair, which will run daily from August 8 to 31, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
One of the festival's highlights is the Bantawan Cultural Celebration, which will take place at the Bantawan Amphitheater in Magsaysay Park from August 10 to 12. The Kasikas sa Kadayawan, Kadayawan Expo & Food Trucks Bazaar, Hiyas sa Kadayawan Grand Coronation Night, and special non-working holiday for Kadayawan and Indigenous Peoples Day are scheduled for August 13 to 17.
The grand finale of the festival will be the Pamulak ug Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan grand parade and Grand Showdown, scheduled for August 17. The parade will take place in the morning, while the street dancing competition will take place in the evening at San Pedro Square.
Last year's Kadayawan Festival opening saw heightened security measures, smooth crowd management, and strong public cooperation, elements that officials aim to replicate this year. Strict inspections and bans on bladed weapons, backpacks, and other restricted items have been implemented at all major venues by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and the Davao City Safety and Security Cluster [4].
Festivalgoers are urged to use clear bags during the Kadayawan Festival 2025, as unattended bags will prompt immediate police and Swat action. Vice President Sara Duterte attended the Misa Pasasalamat, the opening thanksgiving mass, which took place at San Pedro Cathedral on August 7 [6].
The Kadayawan Festival 2024 opening also followed this pattern, with similar heightened security measures, smooth crowd management, and strong public cooperation. The incident-free opening of the Kadayawan Festival 2024 and 2025 reflects the city's sustained success in managing large-scale cultural events [4][7].
Festivalgoers at the Kadayawan Festival 2024 were also urged to remain vigilant. This year, officials aim to maintain this level of vigilance to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival for all.
