City appoints new top executive for urban development initiatives
Barbara Früh, a seasoned civil engineer with extensive experience in urban development, has been appointed as the future managing director of Stadtbau GmbH in Pforzheim. The announcement was made recently, with Früh set to take up her new role on February 1, 2024.
Früh, born in 1978, graduated from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in 2003 with a degree in civil engineering, specialising in construction operations. Her career in urban development began in 2014 when she became the head of the technical building administration department of the Karlsdorf-Neuthard community.
From there, Früh moved on to become the head of the building management department at the Karlsruhe County Administration Office in 2016. During her tenure, she demonstrated impressive leadership skills, managing up to 90 employees and overseeing significant construction projects.
One of her notable achievements was the accommodation of refugees in the Karlsruhe district, where she managed and operated around 30 refugee accommodations. Her experience in collaborating with various stakeholders has been instrumental in her success.
In addition to her roles in urban development, Früh also worked as a freelance project coordinator and project manager for IT and document management systems at the Schoeck corporate group in Baden-Baden. She also served as the deputy head of the finance and participations division at the Karlsruhe County Administration Office.
Früh is also the chairperson of the communal institution for housing in the Karlsruhe district. Her appointment as the future managing director of Stadtbau GmbH in Pforzheim has been met with approval from Peter Boch, the chairman of the supervisory board and mayor. Boch commented that Früh is an excellent choice for the management of Stadtbau GmbH.
Früh expressed her enthusiasm for the challenges and tasks that managing Stadtbau Pforzheim presents, including the administration of the housing stock, the construction of new apartments, and urban development.
Until her appointment, Siegfried Apfel will serve as the interim managing director of Stadtbau GmbH. Früh's appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Stadtbau GmbH in Pforzheim, with Früh's expertise and leadership set to drive the company forward.
