City authorities and the senior citizens' council announce involvement in the senior citizens' council affairs
The city of Gütersloh, Germany, is inviting senior citizens aged 60 and above to join the Senior Citizens' Council. Heidi Ostmeier, the Senior Commissioner and Managing Director of the Senior Citizens' Council, encourages those who want to advocate for older people in the city to participate.
The Senior Citizens' Council event, scheduled for September 2025 at the City Hall of Gütersloh, Berliner Straße 70, will provide an opportunity for interested individuals to learn about becoming a candidate and the requirements for the Senior Citizens' Council election on February 5, 2026.
During the event, attendees will have the chance to meet current members of the Senior Citizens' Council and city's senior work representatives. They will also present projects and initiatives initiated or supported by the Senior Citizens' Council, and report on tasks, participation opportunities within the committee.
The Senior Citizens' Council consists of 12 voting members and 6 advisory members. The thematic working groups of the council focus on mobility, safety, education, crime prevention, digitization, and culture and leisure.

Please note that the Senior Citizens' Council event scheduled for September 2025 is no longer relevant to the current discussion. The event on 10th October 2025 at the City Hall of Gütersloh, Berliner Straße 70 is also no longer relevant.
The Senior Citizens' Council meets publicly four times a year. The event on October 10th, 2025, will occur twice, at 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Interested individuals can attend either session to learn more about the Senior Citizens' Council and how they can get involved.
