New Tenant to Revitalize Kulmbacher Zunftstube

The Kulmbacher Brewery has announced that Guido Kögel will be taking over the management of the Kulmbacher Zunftstube, a traditional inn in the heart of Kulmbach’s old town, from October 1, 2025.

With a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on Google, based on 908 reviews, the Zunftstube is a popular inn among locals and visitors alike, known for its cozy, Franconian atmosphere. The inn has a long history, having once been a meeting place for the guilds of bakers, brewers, and butchers.

Guido Kögel, an experienced local gastronome, is returning to the hospitality industry after eight years working in advertising. He was the festival host at the Kulmbacher Beer Week five times and is well-acquainted with the soul of the Zunftstube.

As a trained carpenter, Kögel sees running the Zunftstube as a fortunate opportunity to preserve the inn’s rich tradition and atmosphere. Alongside his partner, he plans to continue hosting guests and uphold the historic, rustic Franconian character of this cultural landmark.

Michael Schmid, the head of gastronomy sales at the Kulmbacher Brewery, thanks the previous tenants, Marcus Schulz, Rita, and Gerald Hofmann, for their long-standing service and smooth transition. The Zunftstube will reopen in October after some technical adjustments, and Kögel’s plans center on maintaining the traditional ambiance and high guest acceptance the Zunftstube enjoys.

Kögel intends to serve Franconian cuisine at the Zunftstube, aiming to make it a beloved local pub once again. He is motivated by the Zunftstube’s unique heritage and significance to both residents and visitors, and he hopes to maintain the family atmosphere and cozy ambiance that the inn is known for.

Guido Kögel led the Weinbrücke in Burghaig for 15 years before his departure for the advertising industry in 2018. His experience and passion for the industry make him an ideal choice to take on the management of the Kulmbacher Zunftstube.
