Days open to the public within the airplane hangar
For 20 years, the Parrot Sanctuary Bremen e.V. has been a beloved destination for bird enthusiasts, hosting public days that allow visitors to observe parrots in their natural habitat. Located at Salzburger Straße 2a, the sanctuary has been a hub for learning about these fascinating creatures and their care.
However, due to staffing issues, the sanctuary has had to close its doors to public days this year. But we are delighted to announce that the staffing issues have now been resolved, and the aviary will once again be open to visitors.
The reopening of the aviary marks the resumption of public days, with the next event taking place on August 17, followed by September 14 and October 5. Visitors can look forward to observing a variety of parrots, including gray parrots and blue-throated amazons, in the flight halls of the aviary.
Admission for adults is 3 euros, and for children, it is 50 cents. Visitors can also learn about the individual parrots, their stories, and their care through conversations with animal keepers. Detailed information is provided about the problems associated with keeping parrots as pets from the perspectives of animal welfare and species protection.
In addition to observing the parrots, visitors can seek advice from volunteer staff members if they keep parrots as pets. Information areas in the aviary provide visitors with comprehensive information about the work and goals of the Parrot Sanctuary Bremen.
Over the years, the sanctuary has welcomed over 15,843 visitors to its public days, and to date, a total of 97 public days have been organized. The first public day was held on August 13, 2005, and the 100th public day will take place on October 5 this year.
The Parrot Sanctuary Bremen's educational work includes public days, aiming to educate visitors about the importance of parrot conservation and the challenges they face in the wild. We encourage everyone to visit the sanctuary and take part in this valuable educational experience.
For accurate and current visiting information, we recommend checking the sanctuary's official website or contacting them directly. The dates for the public days, times, and admission fees may not be publicly listed or were not found in the current search results.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Parrot Sanctuary Bremen's aviary soon!
