Debut: Reuschenberg's Kids' March, Kid-focused Safety Celebration at Furth
In 2023, Timo Eickeler, adjutant of the Reuschenberger Grenadier Corps, and his eight-year-old son Fynn participated in the children's parade at the annual Neuss shooting festival. Inspired by the event, Eickeler collaborated with Björn Porsche, the music officer in the Reuschenberger regiment, to propose the introduction of Reuschenberg's first children's parade.
With great enthusiasm, they organized the event, visiting kindergartens and schools in the district to spread the word. Their information folders emphasized the importance of passing down tradition to the next generation: "Children are our future!", said Eickeler. The response to the idea of a children's parade has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 70 children registering within a week.
The parade is scheduled for July 12th at 12:15 pm, starting from the Albert Schweitzer School and ending at the festival tent. The ceremony will be officially opened at 12 pm with a roll of drums from the shooting festival on the Nachtigallenstraße. The reigning king couple, Reiner I. Schiffer and Queen Ellen, along with the board, will take the march past of the children to signal the start of the parade. The parade will be accompanied by captivating march music from the regiment's brass corps, fostering a joyful and colorful atmosphere. The parade is open to all children from Reuschenberg, regardless of age.
Interested families can register for the children's parade until April 18th. Registration forms can be obtained from school management or kindergarten management, or sent via email to [email protected].
In addition to the children's parade, the St. Sebastianus Schützenbruderschaft Neuss-Furth is hosting a premiere of its children's shooting festival on June 7th. The festival is designed to provide children with a day filled with entertainment, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences. Participants are encouraged to design costumes inspired by the shooters, the music corps, or folklore clothing. The most creative groups will be recognized in a competition.
The Children's Shooting Festival will commence on June 7th at 5:15 pm, starting from the forecourt of the Alevitic Community, through Kaarster Street, past St. Sebastian's Square, over Furtherhof Street to the festival tent. Upon arrival, all children will receive a medal specifically designed for the Children's Shooting Festival. The three most creative groups will be awarded for their creativity. The festival will conclude with a special gesture from the organizers—all children are offered a delicious scoop of Further ice cream from an ice cream truck before being picked up by their parents.
Registration for the Children's Shooting Festival is open; interested participants can contact Herbert Goeres at Phone 0151/68 00 72 72 or via email at [email protected].
