Decorative Mason Jar Lid Accessory - Plaid Design
=====================================================================================
It's the third day of our 12 Days of Christmas Series, and we're excited to share another easy DIY Christmas decoration with you - the Plaid Mason Jar Lid Ornament. If you're a fan of plaid like us, you'll love this project!
Today, we're sharing how to make this adorable ornament that will add a touch of traditional Christmas cheer to your Rustic Woodland Christmas Theme.
To create your own Plaid Mason Jar Lid Ornament, you'll need the following supplies:
- Mason Jar Lids and Rings
- Fabric Scraps (in traditional Christmas colours like red, green, or tartan patterns)
- Twine
- Tape
You can find the perfect fabric for this project at Joann's.
The process is straightforward and takes minimal time to complete. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Gather Supplies: Collect your mason jar lids, rings, plaid fabric, scissors, glue (like Mod Podge), a small paintbrush, and optional embellishments like ribbon or greenery.
- Prepare the Lid: Remove the flat metal lid from the ring. If desired, paint the metal ring or lid base with acrylic paint to coordinate with your plaid fabric.
- Cut the Fabric: Cut the plaid fabric slightly larger than the lid diameter so it can be wrapped or glued securely.
- Attach the Fabric: Use Mod Podge or craft glue to adhere the fabric to the lid base. Smooth out wrinkles and ensure edges are glued down under the ring or secured finely along the edges.
- Seal and Decorate: After the fabric dries, place the ring back over the fabric and tighten it. Add a decorative ribbon or loop on top for hanging. You can also glue on small festive accents like miniature pine sprigs or bells.
- Optional Personalization: Some DIYs add names, small stickers, or paint details on the fabric or ring for more personalized ornaments.
This project is quick, inexpensive, and adds a cozy, rustic Christmas feel perfect for tree ornaments or festive decorations around the home. Plus, it can be hung on a tree without falling off, and due to the temporary tape application, it can be easily reused year after year!
