Discussion event titled "Work - But How?": Novel insights for immigrant and refugee individuals with disabilities
The Inclusion Circle "Flight. Migration. Disability" is hosting a full-day expert congress titled "Work - but how?" on September 25, 2025, at the Diocesan Centre Obermünster in Regensburg. The event, which is part of the Intercultural Weeks Regensburg 2025, aims to make existing challenges visible, develop solutions, and formulate concrete impulses for practice.
Founded in 2020, the Inclusion Circle is a network of professionals, engaged individuals, and those affected, with a focus on creating fair access to the labour market for migrant and refugee people with disabilities. The congress is organized by the Inclusion Circle, the Supplementary Independent Participation Advice (EUTB), Handicap International / Project Crossroads, the Catholic Adult Education Regensburg, the Integration Council of the City of Regensburg, and the Landratsamt Regensburg.
The morning session will begin with greetings from regional politicians and representatives of the Bavarian Ministry, followed by main lectures and a moderated panel discussion with audience participation. The afternoon offers opportunities for exchange in a World Café, where participants can discuss the removal of barriers, forms of level support, successful practical examples, and the role of companies as key actors. A workshop titled "Work - but how?" will also be held in the afternoon to develop practice-oriented approaches and concrete demands.
In 2022, the Inclusion Circle was awarded the Inclusion Prize of the Upper Palatinate District for its commitment to improving labour market access for migrant and refugee people with disabilities. Numerous representatives of the around 500 EUTB advisory centres discussed the particular challenges of double discrimination at the conference.

The expert conference "Strengthen cooperation, further develop guiding principle, promote cooperation" in May 2025 in Erfurt also addressed the topic of migration and disability. The congress in Regensburg promises to be a valuable opportunity for professionals, volunteers, engaged individuals, and those affected to participate in the exchange of opinions and work towards a more inclusive labour market.
