Dog named Betty conquers Scotland's numerous mountains and hills, becoming the first canine to do so.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough 🤔 🐾

Betty, a feisty 9-year-old Kerry blue terrier, has conquered an impressive feat! In recent times, this four-legged adventurer has scaled numerous mountains and hills throughout Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales.

Since the early days of 2021, Betty, a proud companion of her human Shona Marshall, embarked on an extraordinary journey, marking 282 Munros, 227 Munro Tops, 222 Corbetts, 231 Grahams, and 140 Donalds on her adventure map. She also added 22 Furths to her list, although they are a group of Munro-height peaks that don’t allow canine companions (there are still 12 left out).

Recently, Betty completed her most recent challenge by scaling the 2,818ft-tall Morrone, a Corbett above Braemar in Scotland. With a well-deserved pause at the summit, she took in the breathtaking 360-degree views of the majestic Cairngorms, perhaps reflecting on her incredible accomplishment.

Fewer than a hundred individuals have achieved this 'full house' of Scottish summits. Climbing all 282 Munros alone requires an average of 15 years, but Betty and Marshall managed to complete the Munros in one year, averaging approximately four hills a week to conquer the rest of the list.

According to Marshall, the initial goal was to complete the ascent by June, on Betty's 10th birthday, as their furry friend's age might not allow them to continue such feats for much longer. During her journey, Betty consumed more than 800 hard-boiled eggs and 415 tins of sardines, powering her through the 1,124 peaks she scaled!
