Dongdaemun Park will be adorned with a captivating media art spectacle, commencing from July 31.
In the heart of Seoul, the city's historic and modern beauty will be on full display as the Seoul Light DDP 2025: Summer event takes over Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) from July 31 to August 10. The event, which has positioned itself as one of Seoul's signature media art festivals, will showcase immersive media art on the historic stone walls and green spaces around the area.
This year, the event expands beyond its previous media art format, covering the entire park area and a newly created water space. The theme for this year's event is "TIMESCAPE: Texture of Light," and it will feature seven media art installations, including artwork using fog and lasers.
The Seoul Light DDP event will start with an opening ceremony on July 31, which will include an electrifying DJ performance by Joon Kwak and a stunning Hanbok show. The fashion show will be organised in collaboration with traditional hanbok brand Geumdanje and the pattern-driven modern hanbok label Oueur.
The combination of the historical landscape of the Seoul City Wall and the modern architectural beauty of DDP will provide a new artistic experience for visitors. The event is described as an artistic experiment that transforms the city into a stage for the senses.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the displays every evening from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Seoul Light DDP has earned international recognition by winning the iF Design Award in February 2025.
The Seoul Light DDP is a massive media facade festival that projects images onto the surface of DDP's unique architecture, designed by both local and international artists. This year, a media facade along the walls of Hanyang Doseong (Seoul City Wall) will also be featured.
Dongdaemun History and Culture Park is located near Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Jung-gu, central Seoul. The event traditionally takes place in the fall and winter only on the DDP grounds, but this year, it will be held for the first time during the summer. The event offers an opportunity for city and art to coexist for visitors, providing a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of Seoul.
