Environmental celebrations focusing on the beauty and importance of woodlands, featuring various activities such as nature walks, tree planting, workshops, and informative lectures.
Green Wood Week at Bradfield Woods is set to return in August 2025, offering a unique opportunity to witness and participate in the art of green woodworking. This week-long event, from the 24th of August to the 31st, will showcase the skills of green woodworkers as they demonstrate their craft and display their creations made from freshly-felled, unseasoned timber.
The event will take place from 10:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon each day, with talks and demonstrations at 11:00 and 2:30. Visitors can expect to see traditional construction techniques being used, such as the froe, side-axe, drawknife, cleaving brake, shave-horse, and pole-lathe.
A purpose-built crafts area will be set up at Bradfield Woods, where green woodworkers will demonstrate their skills and show off their products. Finished items made from local timber will be on display, with some items available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from all sales will be donated to the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
Wheelchair access is available at the event, and parking information for people with mobility issues can be provided upon request. Those interested in attending are advised to contact the organiser in advance, especially if they have limited mobility.
While specific details about Green Wood Week, such as pricing and booking information, are not currently available, visitors are encouraged to check the Bradfield Woods event calendar closer to the date or contact the organiser directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
