Establishing a Weasel's Habitat
On July 24, 2025, the Child Welfare Service at the District Youth Office in Landshut, Germany, and the Malkastl in Geisenhausen, hosted a series of creative activities for foster children. Led by Hanna Nebe-Rector, a group of eleven children aged three to 13 explored their creativity with colour on paper. Another group of younger children created an individual home for a gnome using natural materials. These artistic activities provided an opportunity for the foster children to express their creativity and individuality. Both activities were highly valued and positively received by both the children and the foster parents. The Landshut District Office's Child Welfare Service is planning to offer more activities like these for foster children in the future. However, they did not disclose any specific plans beyond what was mentioned. The children also had a chance to reflect on what is most important to them in a cozy home and discuss their individual needs. Nadine Heigl-Sandmeyer, who works with foster children on creative activities at the Malkastl in Passau, also contributed to the success of the event. The Child Welfare Service of the Landshut District Office welcomes interested families to join their team of foster parents. More information about joining the foster parent team can be found at www.pflegekinder-landshut.de. For more information about the Child Welfare Service, please contact them at [email protected].
