Expanded housing opportunities within the district

Rhein-Kreis Neuss, a district in North Rhine-Westphalia, has seen a positive trend in apartment construction in 2022, according to IT NRW. The district reported a 12.7% increase in the number of completed apartments, from 1,030 in 2021 to 1,161 in 2022.

Despite this increase, the number of completed apartments in the Rhein-Kreis is not specified for specific types of buildings, such as single-family homes, buildings with two apartments, multi-family homes with three or more apartments, renovations or extensions of existing buildings, or new non-residential buildings. However, for multi-family homes with three or more apartments, the decrease was 1.7% with 26,461 completed apartments in 2022.

The increase in apartment completions in the Rhein-Kreis is higher than the overall decrease in apartment completions in North Rhine-Westphalia, where a total of 47,354 apartments were completed, a decrease of 4.4% compared to 2021.

The Rhein-Kreis has a higher rate of apartment completions compared to the districts of Euskirchen, Warendorf, and Heinsberg, which had the highest completion rates in 2022. In new non-residential buildings, the number of completed apartments increased by 4.9% to 707 in 2022.

However, despite the increase in apartment completions, it is not enough to significantly ease the housing shortage in the region. The state's "housing construction quota" for 2022 was 25.6 completed apartments per 10,000 inhabitants.

The cities of Wuppertal, Gelsenkirchen, and Hagen had the lowest completion rates in 2022. The number of completed apartments created through renovations or extensions of existing buildings decreased by 18.5% to 4,810 apartments in 2022.

For those interested in detailed statistics, it is recommended to consult regional building authorities or statistical offices such as IT NRW, which regularly publish detailed housing construction reports by district and state.

  1. To address the housing shortage in the Rhein-Kreis, there is a need for more focus on specific types of building construction, such as investing in home-and-garden projects or real-estate developments that include single-family homes, renovations, or extensions of existing buildings.
  2. The positive trend in apartment construction in the Rhein-Kreis highlights an opportunity in the finance sector, as increasing home-and-garden investments and real-estate developments could attract more investments and improve the lifestyle of the district's residents.
  3. With the decrease in multi-family homes with three or more apartments, there is a potential gap in the market for investing in larger apartment buildings in the district, considering the ongoing demand for housing in the region.
