Experience the captivating music ensemble led by Willich in "Dido and Aeneas" performance
The Willich Music Project, a renowned choral initiative launched in 1996, is set to captivate audiences with a performance of Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas on September 27 in the Jakob-Frantzen-Hall.
Under the leadership of Álvaro Tinjaca-Bedoya, the choir will perform scenic choral music, not just oratorios, promising a unique and immersive experience for the audience. The production will feature the uncommon prologue performance, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the event.
The opera, first performed around 1689 in London, tells a moving, tragic love story between Dido and Aeneas. Pavla Flámová will take on the role of Dido, while Jimmy Herrera will perform as Aeneas. Soloists from the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen and the TanzPassion 60+ are also involved, ensuring a diverse and talented cast.
Accompanied by the Cologne Baroque Orchestra on historical instruments, the performance aims to musically engage the audience in this timeless tale. Tickets are now available for purchase, priced at 25 euros for parkett seating and 15 euros for tribune seating. Children, young people, students, and trainees up to 27 years old can enjoy tribune seating for only 5 euros.
Elke Hartfiel, a notable figure in the project, emphasises that there is room for interpretations regarding the opera, inviting audiences to delve deeper into the artistic motives of the composer and his librettist, which remain somewhat unknown.
The Willich Music Project support association, dependent on memberships and donations, bears the financial risk of the events.
