Angelina Kees, the renowned trachten designer and owner of Inntaler Trachtenwelt, shares insights into the fashion trends that will dominate Oktoberfest 2025 in Munich.

Kees, whose life revolves around trachten all year round, reveals that this year, the puff sleeve is making a comeback in dirndl fashion. Red has also made a comeback, she adds, while black dirndls remain fashionable.

In the world of lederhosen, materials have diversified, with suede, corduroy, and even printed cotton making an appearance. The traditional structure is retained but refreshed with modern fabrics and cuts, providing a balance between comfort and style.

Modern dirndls, according to Kees, are moving beyond classic materials to fresh looks. Popular choices include denim, jersey, sequins, and prints. Cutting trends favor shorter skirts, offering a contemporary, playful silhouette while retaining traditional patterns. Comfort and practicality are emphasized, with tips like wearing shorts under the dirndl for modesty and memory foam insoles for long hours on feet. Accessories such as braided headbands simplify styling while nodding to traditional braiding.

Brands have launched refined, clean, and modern dirndl lines that blend elegance with heritage aesthetics. In Munich, where the Wiesn is just around the corner, it's all about spectacle and standing out, according to Kees.

Interestingly, men are paying more attention to their Wiesn outfits, often buying coordinated outfits. Men often need a new leather pant because the old one has become too tight or can't be found. Checked shirts on men are not in fashion, Kees states.

On the other hand, women buy more traditional outfits before Oktoberfest, while men make up for it during the festival. Only newcomers or women who haven't worn trachten before buy their first dirndl, Kees states.

Kees' collection is more about classic dirndls without too much fuss. She emphasizes that an old Dirndl is never out of style. In the countryside where she comes from, the season for trachten starts in March with forest festivals and weddings.

A man in traditional attire gets an extra ten points from Kees. She also mentions that traditional outfits, whether Dirndl or Lederhosen, can last for many years. A good quality leather pant can last almost a lifetime.

Trend colors take two to three years to hit the market, Kees explains. In the countryside, the classic leather pants are made of deer leather, while goat or stone sheep leather pants have more delicate seams. Men's traditional outfits now include socks, knee-high socks, loafers, or Haferl shoes, with sneakers or hiking boots being a no-go.

In summary, Oktoberfest 2025 sees dirndl and lederhosen fashions that honor Bavarian tradition while embracing modern fabrics, cuts, and practical styling for all-day wear at the festival.

In the upcoming Oktoberfest 2025, the fashion-and-beauty segment extends beyond traditional trachten to include contemporary styles, asangelina Kees highlights the popularity of modern dirndls crafted from materials like denim, jersey, sequins, and prints. Meanwhile, in the home-and-garden sphere, the puff sleeve returns as a striking element in dirndl lifestyle, pairing traditional patterns with a vibrant comeback of red, while black remains a fashionable choice.
