Final reminder: Germany emphasizes the need for increased biological diversity!
In an effort to combat the endangerment of many insect species, the Foundation for Man and Environment has launched a nationwide planting competition in Germany. Julia Sander, head of the Deutschland summt! planting competition, is urging immediate action to create habitats for wild bees, butterflies, and other insects.
The competition is open to engaged citizens, kindergartens, schools, clubs, and companies. Participants are invited to submit nature-friendly balconies, gardens, or company premises for consideration. Short-term measures like planting native wildflowers, setting up nesting aids, creating a watering hole, or integrating deadwood can make a significant contribution to biodiversity.
Action and celebration photos are also welcome and valued by the jury. The Foundation emphasises the importance of natural habitats in times of species extinction and biodiversity loss.
The Foundation for Man and Environment aims to counteract this issue with the planting competition. The deadline for entries is 31 July 2025. For more information and participation conditions, visit the Foundation's website at www.wir-tun-was-fuer-bienen.de.
A special highlight this year is the photo competition as a special action, with motifs sought that authentically and without artificial intelligence capture the theme "My Garden Paradise". Attractive prizes are available for winners of the competition, including monetary and material prizes, as well as an invitation to the awards ceremony in Berlin.
The Foundation also provides free promotional materials such as stickers, flyers, online banners, and sharepics to support participants' public relations efforts. The competition entries for the planting competition can be viewed online at wettbewerb.wir-tun-was-fuer-bienen.de.
Participants can find a variety of free materials on the Deutschland summt! website, including planting lists & guides, a guide to creating a natural garden, and tips for nature-friendly balcony design. The jury values the pictures as they help spread enthusiasm to others, which is a crucial element of this competition.
By participating in this competition, citizens can play a crucial role in preserving the diversity of insects and ecosystems, ultimately benefiting us all.
