Free Saturday at Museum Wiesbaden: Explore Expressionism Masterpieces
Mark your calendars for August 3, as the Museum Wiesbaden opens its doors for Free Saturday, offering a unique opportunity to explore its rich collection. The highlight of this event is the exhibition 'Feininger, Münter, Modersohn-Becker... Or how art comes into the museum', which tells the story of the Department of Classical Modernism.
The exhibition showcases masterpieces by Expressionism greats Lyonel Feininger, Gabriele Münter, and Paula Modersohn-Becker. These works were assembled by the Museum Wiesbaden, largely thanks to the generous donations of the Rick couple from Düsseldorf, who amassed around 40 pieces. The museum's involvement and the donors' support have been instrumental in bringing these artworks together.
Visitors can also expect to see works by lesser-known artists such as Erma Bossi and Elisabeth Epstein, adding a fresh perspective to the exhibition. The tour will be further enriched by sculptures from renowned artists like Ernst Barlach, Gerhard Marcks, and Marg Moll.
In addition to this artistic feast, the Museum Wiesbaden's Art Nouveau permanent exhibition will be open for exploration. And as part of the natural history highlights, the exhibition 'Honey yellow - The bee in nature and cultural history' will also be on display. Don't miss out on this comprehensive cultural experience on August 3.
