Fundraising Event Features Solid State Logic and Ox Statues, Aid for Sobell House Hospice
In the heart of Oxford, a unique public art project is underway. The OxTrail 2024 has seen the installation of 30 life-sized ox and 100 mini-ox sculptures throughout the city, and one of these life-sized sculptures has a special connection to the world of music.
Solid State Logic (SSL), a renowned name in the audio industry, has sponsored a life-size ox designed by Oxford-based artist Rawz. This sculpture, adorned with intricate details, is not just a part of the trail but also a key component of a fund-raiser for Sobell House Hospice.
Rawz spent nine 10 or 12-hour days decorating the ox at SSL's headquarters, pouring his heart and soul into the project. The company's support didn't stop at sponsorship; SSL purchased Rawz's Ox sculpture to display it at their global headquarters, demonstrating a deeper involvement beyond mere sponsorship.
Rawz's family member received care from Sobell House Hospice, making this fundraising initiative particularly meaningful for the artist. He hopes his ox sculpture will be placed in SSL's reception area after the auction, continuing to serve as a symbol of their shared commitment.
Solid State Logic's involvement in OxTrail 2024 is just one example of their commitment to supporting local public art initiatives and promoting the work of Oxford artists.
On a different note, Rawz is also deeply involved in the day-to-day operations at In-Spire Sounds, a recording studio sponsored by SSL. Established about five years ago, In-Spire Sounds provides affordable professional recording services. In fact, Rawz uses the SSL 2+ audio interface in his home studio setup, finding it portable and intuitive.
The OxTrail 2024 project is open for exploration until August 29. Users can download the OxTrail app to log codes on discovered ox sculptures and unlock rewards. After the OxTrail, most of the life-sized sculptures and some mini-oxen will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to Sobell House Hospice.
One lucky winner of a competition can spend a day recording and mixing at In-Spire Sounds, the local SSL-equipped recording studio. So, if you're a music enthusiast, make sure to check out In-Spire Sounds and the OxTrail 2024 project in Oxford.
