GOQii Launches Smart Wristband for Early COVID-19 Detection

GOQii, a leading health tech company, has launched the GOQii Vital 3.0, a smart wristband designed to aid in the early detection of COVID-19 symptoms. The device, priced at INR 3999, is set to be used in a clinical study to assess its accuracy and is already being distributed to frontline workers and enterprises in India.

The GOQii Vital 3.0 is equipped with sensors to track body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, sleep patterns, activity levels, and steps. It features an inbuilt temperature display and thermal sensor with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 °F. The device is not a medical device but a screening tool, and all data collected is subject to relevant data privacy guidelines.

Friedrich Laemmel, working with GOQii in India, is spearheading efforts to create a preventive health environment and revolutionize early detection of the COVID-19 virus. GOQii has partnered with German health tech startup Thryve for a clinical study in India to detect COVID-19 infections earlier. The company is also in talks with global entities to use the GOQii Vital 3.0 for early detection and isolation of potential COVID-19 patients.

The GOQii Vital 3.0 is available in India in phases, with priority given to frontline workers and enterprises. It can be ordered from the GOQii App and online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is GOQii's brand ambassador, has donated 1,000 GOQii Vital 3.0 bands to the Mumbai Police. The clinical study will help validate the device's accuracy in detecting COVID-19 symptoms, potentially aiding in the fight against the pandemic.
