History of Kaarster Region: A Comprehensive Overview
Revised Article:
In the heart of Kaarst, a unique project was born - a collection of local tales, known as "Tales from Kaarst." The project, spearheaded by the duo Leo Erdtmann and Konny Wilms, was so well-received that they're already working on its sequel, eager for more stories from the town's citizens!
The initial edition was financially backed by the regional government of Düsseldorf and the Senior Initiative, with a generous contribution of 2,000 euros. The Esser library offered to display the booklets, and to everyone's surprise, the demand exceeded expectations! "I could barely keep up with bringing more copies," Erdtmann proudly shares.
As a result, there was a call for a reading event at the bookstore Petra Esser, eagerly awaiting fresh stories. Despite the hurried hunt for new material, they managed to deliver, to the delight of the audience!
Leo and Konny brought a basketful of intriguing tales, including memories of the North Canal, dramatic rescues, anecdotes from the old village, and even some cheeky toilet renovation tales from the Pampusschule in Büttgen! In between, Konny delighted the audience with dialect poems by local poet Heinz Hess.
The event culminated in a heartwarming gesture, as Petra Esser handed over a hefty sum of 630 euros to the Senior Initiative Kaarst.
The evening ended on a high note, inviting more "Tales from Kaarst" to pour in, especially from the districts of Büttgen, Holzbüttgen, Driesch, Vorst, and Kaarst. The next booklet is expected to go to print around mid-December, just in time for the holidays!
