Iconic Lisbon Restaurant 1300 Taberna Closes After 14 Years

After serving its final meals on October 4, the iconic 1300 Taberna at LX Factory has closed its doors. The restaurant, run by Chef Nuno Barros for 14 years, is now selling off its tables, chairs, kitchen equipment, and decorative items. The closure marks the end of a unique dining experience in Lisbon.

Following the closure, the 1300 Taberna reopened briefly on October 5 to allow customers to purchase its furniture and equipment. Chef Nuno Barros, who led the restaurant since its inception, expressed regret at the decision not to renew his contract. However, the specific reasons behind this decision remain unclear. It is known that the decision was made by LX Factory managers, leading to the restaurant's unfortunate closure.

With the 1300 Taberna's closure, Lisbon's culinary scene loses a beloved establishment. Chef Nuno Barros has confirmed that he does not plan to open another restaurant with the same name in the city. The future of the space and its new tenant remain uncertain.
