Design-Led Brief and Acoustic Needs Met
The project required an audio system that would not only meet the acoustic needs of the various spaces within Soho Mews House but also complement its high-end interior design [4]. Tateside rose to the challenge by designing a system that not only delivers crystal-clear sound but also seamlessly integrates with the venue's design. Custom finishes on the loudspeakers ensure they blend visually with the joinery and wood stain, maintaining the luxurious ambiance of the club [4][5].
Custom-Finished 1 SOUND Loudspeakers
The heart of the audio system is the custom-finished 1 SOUND loudspeakers, designed specifically for Soho Mews House. These speakers were meticulously placed in different areas of the club to cater to various performance needs. For instance, in the Piano Bar, Cannon C6 loudspeakers and WSUB45s were used, suitable for both acoustic piano and DJ performances. In the Half Moon Bar, Tower Systems, consisting of Tower LCC84 and SUB310, were implemented for live performances, offering SPL and clarity with a controlled dispersion pattern.
In the main dining room, compact Cannon C4 coaxial loudspeakers and MiniSUB5 subwoofers were used, with the MiniSUB5s installed under the banquette seating. Meanwhile, MiniSUB5s were positioned above the draped fabric ceilings in the private dining room, ensuring high-quality audio with a small footprint and minimal visual impact [1][4][5].
Advanced Technology and Control Features
The Q-SYS control backend supports multiple modes in the rooms, including switching from DJ mode to live performance mode. Additionally, DMX show lighting is tied in through Q-SYS, with control via an Apple iPad or simplified switching via Pragma wall panels on each floor. For basic microphone control in the Piano Bar, a Skaarhoj motorized fader bank was installed, eliminating the need for a bulky mixing desk or a sound tech on site [1][4][5].
