Increase in Children's Festival Costs: Breakdown of Pricing for Beer, Sausages, and Ribbons for Attendees

The much-anticipated Children's and Homecoming Festival in Wangen is set to return from July 24 to 27, promising a week filled with fun, entertainment, and delicious food. This year's event will feature a variety of attractions, including theatre performances, digital scavenger hunts, and the traditional children's festival parade.

While admission to the festival remains free, there have been some changes in the pricing of food and drinks. The festival sausage, steak, and popular dishes such as spaetzle, grilled vegetables, and fries will maintain their previous prices. However, there will be a 50-cent increase in the price of the festival sausage, steak bun, children's festival salad, currywurst with fries, herring bun, and spaetzle noodles. A half-liter of beer will now cost 4.50 euros, and the Ravensburg Rutenmaß will set you back 12.60 euros this year.

The children's festival bracelet will once again be sold by around 60 helpers at the city entrances and during the children's festival parade on Saturday. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, the digital scavenger hunt will take place from Monday to Wednesday during the children's festival week, with hiding places published on Instagram @wangenerkinderheimatfest using geographic coordinates.

For those interested in geocaching, the remaining shopping vouchers from the Performance Community of Trade and Crafts can now be won this year by students participating in the geocaching event.

The children's festival theater, a subsidized business, has seen an increase in costs for tent rental, sanitation services, and toilets. To offset these costs, the children's festival committee will run a drinks stand for children in Leutkirch, selling alcohol-free 0.5-liter drinks in PET bottles for 1.50 euros each.

In comparison to other local festivals in the Wangen area, direct price comparisons for food and drinks are not publicly detailed. However, the Strassenspektakel Wangen an der Aare 2025, a local festival with a children's program, offers a culture-rich experience with food and drink available for purchase, albeit without specific pricing listed.

Despite the cost increases, the Children's and Homecoming Festival remains a vibrant and affordable event for the whole family. Volunteers from local clubs are only paid six euros per hour, ensuring that the festival remains community-focused.

This year's festival will also see the inclusion of theatre performances, adding another layer of entertainment to the already exciting lineup. The commission experienced a loss of 20,000 euros due to lower revenues in 2022 compared to the previous year, but with the festival's return, the community is looking forward to a successful and enjoyable event.
