Increased Demand and Solid Showings in Bicycling within Cityscapes for the Year 2025
The "Stadtradeln" action, a nationwide cycling campaign organised by the Climate Alliance, has once again proven its impact in promoting climate protection, healthier cities, and road safety. This year, the campaign saw over 2,600 cyclists from the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis district participating, collectively covering nearly 505,000 kilometers.
The action, which takes place annually, encourages individuals and communities to choose cycling over motorized transport. By doing so, it helps decrease reliance on motor vehicles, thereby reducing air pollution and carbon emissions, contributing positively to climate protection and environmental health.
One of the highlights of this year's campaign was the "Schulradeln" competition, where schools across the district competed to cover the most distance by bike. The Gymnasium Odenthal finished a commendable second with over 12,000 kilometers, while the Otto-Hahn schools from Bergisch Gladbach led the way with over 14,000 kilometers.
In Bergisch Gladbach, the city covered the most kilometers with nearly 156,000 kilometers. A student from Bergisch Gladbach was also the most active cyclist this year, having cycled nearly 2,750 kilometers.
The "Stadtradeln" action is not just about the number of kilometers cycled, but about individual engagement and participation. Teams like "Team Dabringhausen" and "ProPhysio and Friends" not only participated but also collected donations for their efforts. The proceeds from these donations were given to the swimming pool in Wermelskirchen-Dabringhausen and a children's hospice.
The campaign also aims to draw attention to offers and measures in the field of sustainable mobility in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. It is part of the integrated communication campaign "Einfach.besser.ankommen" in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, which strives to make sustainable mobility an attractive and accessible option for everyone.
By inspiring people to cycle and promoting a livable environment and health, the "Stadtradeln" action has saved around 83 tons of CO2 by using bikes instead of cars during the campaign. This underscores the significant role that collective cycling efforts can play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving urban air quality.
In conclusion, the "Stadtradeln" action is a successful campaign that encourages cycling for a sustainable and healthier lifestyle. It is a testament to the power of community action in promoting climate protection and fostering a greener future.
By embracing cycling as a means of transportation, individuals and communities in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis district are promoting not only healthier cities and road safety, but also sustainable living within a home-and-garden context. The collective cycling efforts during the "Stadtradeln" action have significantly reduced carbon emissions and air pollution, contributing to a healthier environment and a more sustainable lifestyle.
