Taking a Stand for the Seas: Talisker and Parley for the Oceans Join Forces

Ready for a whiskey that packs a punch, not just in flavor, but in action too? Introducing the Wilder Seas, a limited-edition creation by Talisker, teaming up with Parley for the Oceans. For every bottle sold, £3 goes straight to this ocean-loving charity, dedicating to protecting and preserving our precious seas. The bottle itself is a sight to behold—a 100% recycled-glass gem, created using biofuel and co-designed with Parley.

Embracing Skye's Surf

The bottle's ceramic decoration mirrors the rugged beauty of Skye's coastline, with intricate topographic lines mimicking underwater landscapes and the crash of powerful waves. Sea forests, native to the Isle of Skye, are primary habitats that make up a quarter of the world's coastline—yetthey're vanishing four times faster than rainforests. Wilder Seas aims to change that, utilizing funds raised from this release to protect three of these vital sea forests off the Scottish, South African, and Chilean coasts.

Reviving Sea Forests

Wilder Seas is backing groundbreaking research, both in the Orkney Islands and the southern hemisphere. The Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Heriot-Watt University, and Blue Marine Foundation are spearheading studies to understand the role of sea forests in slowing climate change and the fate of carbon they sequester. In the southern hemisphere, research focused on the Great African Sea Forest is underway, home to thousands of unique species. Meanwhile, Chile's kelp forests are being studied, a haven for endangered birds, whales, and dolphins, with Parley and local organization Fundacion Rompientes partnering on this project.

"Sea forests might be forgotten guardians of the sea, but they're essential to planetary health," says Cyril Gutsch, founder and CEO of Parley. "Together with Talisker, we're bridging design, eco-innovation, and conservation to honor these magical forests and support their protection."

First Among Equals

This partnership marks the first carton-free whisky for Talisker, featuring a paper neck tag and boasting 85% lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with its glass bottle and 77% lower GHG emissions for its packaging as a whole, compared to Talisker's previous designs. Also a first for the distillery, Wilder Seas is aged in French Oak XO cognac casks, offering a unique blend of smoky, spicy, sea-salted flavors, complemented by hints of plum and stewed raisins.

Limited to just 17,940 bottles, the Wilder Seas x Talisker collaboration will raise an outstanding £53,820 for Parley for the Oceans. Snag your bottle here at Malts.com!
