Italian restaurant Alba Los Angeles disguises an escape to Italy for diners
Alba Los Angeles, a new Italian restaurant, has opened its doors on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. The restaurant is the brainchild of Prince Street Hospitality, the team behind the popular New York restaurant Cucina Alba.
The design of Alba Los Angeles, by GRT architects from Brooklyn, features colorful abstract murals and playful indoor-outdoor elements, such as cheeky statues and pottery, to create a lively, romantic atmosphere inspired by the owners’ travels. The main room of the restaurant boasts arched wooden trellises, a retractable yellow-and-white striped roof, distressed brick flooring, a 14-seat bar with a red-hued canopy, and indoor dining banquettes with ivory leather upholstery. Four colorful murals were created for Alba Los Angeles by artist Alex Proba, and a curated art program from Creative Art Partners and Artemest adds to the restaurant's sophisticated ambiance.
The menu, helmed by chef Adam Leonti (also from New York), offers a variety of Italian dishes. Notable options include the 'Alla Diavola' roast chicken with a spicy 'bomba' sauce made with Calabrian chili, and a rich black truffle fonduta agnolotti filled with caramelized onions and Parmesan. The restaurant also serves house-made focaccia with whipped ricotta, and orecchiette arrabbiata, served with freshly imported burrata.
