Kentucky Arts Council Launches Open Call for Governor's Derby Exhibit
The Kentucky Arts Council has launched an open call for artists to participate in the Governor's Derby Exhibit, set to run from April 30 to May 29, 2025. The theme, 'Spring is Here', encourages artists to celebrate the season through their work. With no submission fee, artists can apply online and decide whether to sell their pieces, with no commission taken by the council.
Artists aged 18 and older can submit up to two original, two-dimensional works, each no larger than 36 inches in height or width, 6 inches in depth, and weighing no more than 25 pounds. Accepted artwork must be delivered or shipped to the Kentucky Arts Council office in Frankfort on April 22 or 23, 2025, securely wrapped and packed in a box. Digital images of the work, in JPEG format at 300 dpi with the longest side approximately 10 inches, should be submitted online.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Capitol Rotunda, open to all visitors to the State Capitol. The Architect of the Capitol will handle the transportation of accepted artworks from the artists to the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort.
The Kentucky Arts Council invites all interested Kentucky visual artists to participate in this exciting exhibition. The deadline for submission is April 15, 2025. For more information, visit the Kentucky Arts Council's official website.
