Large-scale graffiti initiative: Koblenz Bridge serves as a colossal art surface
In the heart of Koblenz, a vibrant cultural event is set to take place from August 25th to 31st. The "Across Generations" project, a public street art festival, will see the transformation of the Kurt-Schumacher-Bridge into a canvas for art.
The festival, supported by Koblenz Stadtwerke, Debeka, evm, and the Lotto Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate, will bring together local and internationally renowned artists, including Hendrik Beikirch, also known as "ecb". Hendrik, who studied art pedagogy at the University of Koblenz-Landau, will be returning to his former hometown for this unique collaboration.
The grey bridge pillar on the Moselweißer side will be the focus of the public art project. Visitors can witness the creation of street art, interact with interactive activities such as the Rockmobil from Music Live e.V. and a street art workshop for youth, and enjoy live music and a drink stand.
Culture Commissioner Ingo Schneider expressed his excitement, stating that the project will result in a work of art that the city will talk about for years to come. The festival will also include a skateboarding event with the Koblenz Skateboarding Association e.V., adding an energetic twist to the festivities.
Hendrik Beikirch left a visible mark on the city in 2022 with a large girl's portrait on a house facade in Mayener Straße, visible from the Balduin bridge. This return to Koblenz promises to create another memorable piece of street art that will undoubtedly become a cherished part of the city's landscape.
For the most current and detailed information about the festival, we recommend checking local Koblenz city or cultural websites, municipal announcements, or contacting the local arts council. This public art project is sure to be a spectacle not to be missed!
