Launching initiative for enthusiastic flower box cultivators commences

In collaboration with the Cultural Office and the City Museum, the Environmental Protection Office of Pforzheim invites residents to a community planting event on Thursday, May 15th, from 3 to 5 pm. The action will take place at the herb garden of the City Museum, located at Western Karl-Friedrich-Straße 243, 75172 Pforzheim.

Participants are encouraged to bring their flower pots and fill them with plants and peat-free soil, generously provided by the Environmental Protection Office. The primary aim of the event is to boost inner-city biodiversity in Pforzheim and add more greenery to the urban landscape.

Environmental Mayor Tobias Volle will kick off the event, expressing his delight at the third iteration of the planting action in the enchanting herb garden of the City Museum. He emphasized that residents' participation is essential for Pforzheim to become a more insect-friendly and climate-resilient city.

The event offers useful information and tips on creating insect-friendly flower pots and implementing simple trellises for facade greening. The German Association for Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) will also provide guidance on making accommodations for wild bees.

Bees, butterflies, and other urban insects often lack suitable nesting opportunities and shelter in the city. By selecting plants that offer abundant pollen, nectar, and serve as natural nesting spots, residents can help provide essential habitats for these creatures.

The planting event falls under the "From City Museum to Museum Campus" project, promoting the museum area as an educational site for sustainable development. Each household may bring a maximum of two empty flower pots, but advance registration is not required. Participants are requested to use the Kirchenstraße entrance.
