Leipzig, Germany, is gearing up for a significant music event in October 2026. The "chor.com" Festival, organised by the Deutscher Chorverband (German Choir Association), will take place at the Congress Hall at the Zoo from the 1st to the 4th of October.

This four-day event is expected to attract approximately 10,000 visitors and will feature an impressive lineup of 80 exhibitors from all over Europe. The festival will bring an important industry congress to Saxony, further cementing Leipzig's image as a music city.

The funding for the festival is seen as crucial for choirs to present themselves and attract new members. The Free State has allocated 240,000 euros for the event, with funding allocated for preparations in the current and next year. This decision was influenced by the impact of the Corona pandemic on choirs, which have been particularly affected.

The "chor.com" Festival is more than just a musical event. Choirs are considered a living expression of social cohesion, and the organisers aim to foster this sense of unity through workshops, performances, and networking opportunities. Around 200 workshops on vocal music will be held during the festival, providing a platform for choir members to learn, collaborate, and grow.

In addition to the daytime workshops and exhibitions, an evening concert program is planned as part of the festival. This program promises to showcase the best of choral music, offering visitors an unforgettable musical experience.

The minister, Klepsch, considers the festival's funding as well-spent. He expects the event to have a lasting impact on the choral scene and a positive effect on tourism, with guests expected to return after the festival, contributing to the local economy. The minister also hopes that the festival will help Leipzig regain its pre-pandemic vibrancy and attract more cultural tourists in the future.

The "chor.com" Festival, now in its sixth edition, has been held every two years since 2011. The event is a testament to the resilience of the choral community and the power of music to bring people together. With its combination of education, entertainment, and networking opportunities, the "chor.com" Festival is a must-attend event for any choral music enthusiast.
