Lifetime's Enduring Existence

The city of Hermülheim is witnessing a significant transformation with the commencement of the 'Lifeline Lux' project in the fall of 2024. This ambitious urban development initiative aims to make Luxembourg Street more attractive and livable.

The City of Luxembourg is the project sponsor for the planning process of 'Lifeline Lux,' overseeing the project's progress and ensuring it aligns with the city's vision. The project includes construction work on Luxembourg Street, which is part of the larger 'Lifeline Lux' urban development endeavor.

One of the key features of the project is the construction of a canal between AOK Street and Severinus Street. This is an integral part of the ongoing urban development project, contributing to the overall transformation of the area.

As part of the project, two roundabouts will be built at strategic intersections on Luxembourg Street. Additionally, a traffic-calmed zone with ample greenery and high stay quality will be created, promoting a more inviting and sustainable environment.

Despite the construction work, Luxembourg Street remains open in both directions between Bonn Street and AOK Street. However, parking spaces in the construction area will be temporarily removed to facilitate the project's progress.

The 'Lifeline Lux' project has received substantial funding, with 7,971,413 euros provided by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building, and the NRW State Ministry of Home Affairs, Communities, Building and Digitalization. Furthermore, 171,600 euros in funding for the planned bike street will be provided by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, and the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM).

The intermediate section of Luxembourg Street will be designated as a bike street, promoting sustainable and active transportation options. A dedicated theme page has been created for transparent updates on the 'Lifeline Lux' project, keeping the community informed about the project's progress.

The maximum speed limit on Luxembourg Street has been reduced to 30 km/h to ensure safety during the construction period. Access regulation in the Horbeller Street to AOK Street area is in effect, with restrictions between 18:00 and 9:00.

Construction work is progressing faster than expected, indicating a promising outlook for the project's completion. The 'Lifeline Lux' project is expected to continue until the fall of 2029, transforming Luxembourg Street and the surrounding area over the next several years.
