Luxury fashion brand LOEWE establishes its presence in Short Hills with a store that resembles an art gallery.
LOEWE Opens Art-Inspired Boutique at The Mall at Short Hills
LOEWE, the luxury fashion brand known for its commitment to craftsmanship and artistic expression, has opened a new boutique at The Mall at Short Hills in Millburn, New Jersey. The store, spanning 262 square meters and located on the upper level, embodies a unique blend of art and fashion, creating a living gallery setting for customers.
The design of the boutique follows the CASA LOEWE philosophy, merging fine art with functional retail space. This hybrid environment, a seamless fusion of a gallery and a wardrobe, blurs the line between the two, offering a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
The exterior of the boutique is adorned with blue ceramic tiles that catch the light, extending inside to form a mosaic of green and blue tiles. Veined marble and warm wood finishes complement this vibrant tilework, creating an inviting atmosphere.
Inside, the boutique features a curated mix of artisanal furniture, including George Nakashima’s wooden pieces and Utrecht armchairs, alongside custom burnt-wood podiums and iron martini tables. The conoid cushion chairs add a modern touch to the space.
LOEWE's global art collection is prominently displayed throughout the store. Artworks by Paul Thek, Kate Newby, Hylton Nel, Annie Turner, and Hafu Matsumoto are integrated into the retail experience, blurring the boundaries between art and fashion.
The artworks range from kiln-fired ceramics and leather baskets to etchings and porcelain pieces. Etchings by Paul Thek, Some day I want to just have a room full by Kate Newby, Calitzdorp by Hylton Nel, Drift Net (White) by Annie Turner, and Leather Basket 5 by Hafu Matsumoto are among the pieces on display.
John Allen’s tapestry reproductions—Peveril of the Peak, Tin Mine, and Seven Sisters—hang overhead, mirroring the tilework and reinforcing the artistic theme. The abstract patterns of the tapestries echo the rhythmic tilework, creating a harmonious blend of art and design.
Product displays are treated as art installations, enhancing the brand’s identity rooted in craftsmanship and continuity. This approach maintains visual merchandising continuity even after a creative leadership transition, emphasizing the boutique's gallery-like atmosphere as a signature of LOEWE’s creative direction under Jonathan Anderson.
Shoppers can transition from viewing art to purchasing items without interruption, creating a seamless shopping experience that integrates art and fashion. The Short Hills boutique invites customers to experience the brand within a living gallery setting, where luxury fashion intersects with contemporary fine art and craftsmanship.
