Rolling Out the Alpine Adventure: Munich Mountain Bus Unveils New Features for Pentecost Season

Whitsun Initiates Innovative Services on Munich Mountain Buses - Mountain bus services in Munich introduce updates from Pentecost onward

Hey there, travel enthusiasts! Get ready for an exhilarating ride as the Munich Mountain Bus makes its comeback, just in time for the Pentecost bash! This year, the festivities extend beyond weekends, as the bus service will be available for public holidays too, taking you on thrilling journeys to popular alpine destinations.

If you're a resident of the state capital or simply planning a visit, you can jump on this bus ride to the Alps for free if you've got a Germany ticket! Without one, regular MVV ticket prices apply. So, don't forget to grab your Germany ticket before you set off!

The 2025 season kicks off with a revamped schedule, spanning from the start of Pentecost holidays all the way to All Saints' weekend in early November. And to make your ride more enjoyable, the information guide for passengers has been beefed up too!

Popular alpine spots up for grabs include the regal castles in the Allgäu region. Also, catch scenic rides on the mountain bus to Pfronten in Ostallgäu, Bayrischzell, and Thiersee in Tyrol. Each line offers not one, but two round trips every day! If you fancy securing a seat ahead, you can reserve yours for free through the booking tool in the MVV app.

Last year, the Munich Mountain Bus lines joined the MVV family, following a pilot project by the German Alpine Association. The funding for these lines comes from generous contributions by the city of Munich, the districts of Miesbach and Ostallgäu, and the state. A portion of the operating costs not covered by ticket sales are covered by these contributions.

Pumped up by the success of the previous season, more than 7,000 day-trippers hopped on the mountain bus lines last time around. The most frequented destinations were the Tegelberg cable car near Neuschwanstein Castle and the cozy Gasthof Baeckeralm in Bayrischzell, teetering near the border of Austria.

Now, keep in mind, I couldn't find specific details about the new features of the 2025 season or the exact workings of the Germany Ticket for mountain bus rides. For crystal-clear updates, it'd be best to drop the service provider a line or visit their official website. Here's to a thrilling alpine adventure waiting just around the corner!
